Activity: Walks - Mid-week

Location: Various

Timings: Third Wednesday of the month at 10:00

Description: We meet monthly, usually at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday, for a 3.5 to 5 mile (approximately 2 hour) walk. Each walk is led by experienced members of the group.

We have some 40 members, 14 to 20 of whom usually turn out for each walk. A six-monthly programme of walks, from September to February and from March to August, is prepared in advance.

Another typical walk
An optional pub lunch is usually available for those who want it and this means we can often use pub or nearby car parking facilities. Members are responsible for their own transport to our various starting points and voluntary car sharing amongst members is helpful where possible.

A spread of walks between those close to Newbury and those farther afield in the surrounding countryside is arranged and viewing of interesting features during walks is included where possible.

Many of our walks are around and between villages away from the beaten track and take us to places we wuld not be likely to visit in the normal course of events.

Venues we have visited in recent years include Snelsmore Country Park, The Millenium Henge near Wantage, Watership Down and Coombe Gibbet as well as a number of local churches.

A group membership fee of £1.00 per household per annum covers the group membership year running from September to August.
